Features of Watts Premier Instant Hot Water Recirculating Pump System

Conserves water

A recirculation pump is a fancy luxury that gives you hot water instantly. Still, another thing makes it necessary that 15000 Gal. of water per year that would otherwise be wasted on your few second wait for hot water every day.

Maintenance-free

If you wonder, another pump means another regular maintenance issue like a tank-less water heater. You will be glad to know this recirculation pump needs no annual maintenance. The thing is, the pump does not move any water. When you power it, the sensor valve opens, and the pump moves water from the hot water line to the cold water line. These pumps are designed to operate without any flow and use little electricity when it is not moving water. So maintenance is not required.

Pros

  • Additional sensor valves are available for homes with multiple plumbing loops.
  • Very easy to install in less than 1 hour.
  • The pump has everything you will need- a timer and ten ft. electric cord, two adapters with rubber washers, valve mounting screws, a sensor valve, and two 12 in. supply lines.
  • Saves money up to 10% of the water bill.
  • The system includes 24 hours dual-setting programmable timer that lets you activate the pump only when needed.

Cons with solution

Branch line water does not heat up quick

The manual encourages you to put the recirculation pump at the far end reach, but the truth is only the mainline gets instant hot water, and branch lines suffer big time.

Solution: A good way to solve the problem is to put a sensor at each fixture. You need to put a sensor at one fixture of every washroom, especially at the furthest down the line from the water. This will guarantee instant hot water at every line. The system already comes with multiple valves for this purpose.

Waste of electricity

Keeping it on for as long as the tankless unit eats up a lot of electricity; is an extirpate on the utility bill.

Solution: You can save the extra usage by keeping it off other than when you have to use it. This problem will disappear if you buy remote control for this purpose, like one from Etekcity® Wireless Remote Control Outlet. They are a very reasonable price. Attach them with the recirculation pump so when you have to use it, click the button on and control it on-demand—one thing you need to do is set the pump timer in the "ON" position.

Frequently Ask Questions

Does Watts Hot Water Recirculating System work with a single handle faucet?

Yes! Like two handle style faucets, the temperature valve; connect with a single handle faucet. A single handle faucet is workable; it has both a cold and hot water line to the faucet.

Yes, you need to reset the timer. Pop off the front cover and turns the dial until the inside dial reads the correct time.

Can Watts Hot Water recirculating System be used without the sensor valve?

Conclusion

Watts Hot Water Recirculating System will ensure you never have to face the unwanted surprise of cold water from a hot water outlet. It gives hot water at the very first touch. The only thing you need to verify before buying this 120 volt, 6.4 pounds weighed recirculation pump that- if your water heater goes with it or not.

    Hello,

I have installed the Watts 500800 on my 1800 square foot ranch home. It works great with one exception, I could not get hot water to the kitchen sink or the wash tub at the other end of the house. I did install it at the farthest point. So I ordered the another senor valve and installed it under the wash tub sink. Now I am getting warm water out of the cold side. It takes a good minute or so to start getting the cold water to come out. Any idea what could be wrong. Thanks
